Information We Collect
This policy covers Ludus apps and websites. The information we collect depends on the features you use:
- Email Address: When you create an account, we collect your email address to identify you and send important updates.
- Language Preferences: We collect your language learning interests to personalize your experience.
- Learning Data: We store your saved words, study progress, and game scores to track your learning journey.
- Account and Classroom Information: We store your username, account identifier, settings, and classroom membership where applicable.
- Subscriptions: We process subscription products, purchase identifiers, trial dates, and subscription status to provide paid features. Payment providers process your payment details; we do not receive your full payment card number from Apple.
- Notifications: If you enable push notifications, we store device push tokens, app and device information, notification preferences, and timezone information to deliver and schedule notifications. We also record notification send, delivery-status, and interaction information when available.
- Usage and Diagnostics: We collect information such as screens visited, activities started or completed, feature interactions, app version, and technical errors to operate and improve Ludus. Some records are associated with your account identifier. Our servers and service providers may also process technical connection information, including IP addresses.
Analytics and Session Replay
We use first-party usage analytics and service providers to understand how Ludus performs. Our websites use analytics services such as Vercel Analytics and PostHog, depending on the website. PostHog may receive an account identifier and selected product-interaction information. Website session replay can reconstruct interactions with the interface to help diagnose problems; it is configured to mask text inputs and private content and exclude images and sensitive embedded content.
PostHog collection and session replay are disabled in the current iOS release configuration. The installed SDK alone does not enable recording. We will not enable iOS session replay without an explicit consent flow, a clear recording indication, and verification of privacy controls. An ordinary usage-analytics preference is not consent to session replay.
We do not use this analytics information for third-party targeted advertising.
Separately, Ludus uses Meta app-event and subscription-attribution services to measure advertising performance, including installation, registration, and checkout events. These services can process app-instance identifiers and purchase or interaction information. On iOS, collection of the advertising identifier is subject to Apple's tracking permission. You can manage that permission in device settings. Advertising measurement is distinct from session replay.
How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect solely for:
- Providing and improving the Ludus learning experience
- Sending you updates about new features and languages
- Understanding which languages are most in demand
- Providing customer support if needed
- Delivering learning reminders and trial or subscription notices
- Maintaining account security, diagnosing failures, and measuring whether features and notifications work
Data Storage and Security
Your information is stored securely using industry-standard encryption and security measures. We implement reasonable security measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction.
Sharing Your Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information with service providers as needed to operate Ludus, including hosting and database providers, authentication providers, email and push-notification services, subscription services, and analytics providers. These include Supabase, Vercel, Expo/Apple push-notification services, RevenueCat, and PostHog where used. Meta also receives advertising-measurement information as described above. These disclosures are different from selling your contact information.
If you participate in a classroom, relevant learning and membership information may be available to your teacher or school as part of the classroom features. We may also disclose information when required by law or necessary to protect the security and rights of our users and service.
Information may be processed in countries other than your own, including the United States, where our providers operate.
Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Request access to your personal data
- Request correction of your personal data
- Request deletion of your personal data
- Unsubscribe from our communications at any time
You can manage available usage-data and diagnostic preferences in app settings and control push-notification permission in your device settings. Disabling optional analytics does not remove data needed for account access, learning progress, purchases, security, or service operation. You can delete your account in the app or contact us for assistance. Applicable privacy rights may also include objecting to processing, restricting processing, or requesting a portable copy of your information.
Data Retention
We retain account and learning information while needed to provide the service. Retention of technical logs, analytics, and notification records depends on their operational purpose and the relevant provider configuration. After an account-deletion request, some information may remain for legal, security, fraud-prevention, or backup purposes. Contact us to request deletion or information about retention; we do not promise immediate removal from every backup.
Children and School Use
Ludus includes classroom features. Schools, teachers, and parents should contact us about the permissions and privacy requirements applicable to their students before providing children's personal information. We do not sell student information or use it for third-party targeted advertising. Contact us if you believe a child's information has been provided without appropriate authorization so we can investigate and address it.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new privacy policy on this page.
